Low keeps 150 DPI and a strong JPEG. Medium (the default) uses 120 DPI for a typical 50–70% drop. High goes to 96 DPI when the file has to fit in an email. Each option shows what it trades so you are not guessing at a mystery slider.
Pages are rasterized locally, then rebuilt as JPEG images. There is no server and no upload queue. A progress bar updates as each page is rewritten so a long report does not look frozen.
The workspace shows the original size, page count, compressed size, and the percent change. If a file is already tiny or already a scan, you will see that it grew instead of a fake 'success' number. Download again from the same result if you need a second copy.
Compression is a local rasterize-and-repack. Invoices and IDs stay on the device. Close the tab and the bytes are gone. Password-protected files need Unlock first, because this tool does not send a password anywhere.
Drop a file or browse. The workspace shows the original size and how many pages it has. Encrypted PDFs are rejected until you unlock them.
Choose Low, Medium, or High. Read the short description under the buttons — it tells you the DPI, JPEG quality, and the size drop you should expect.
Check the box that you understand the new PDF is made of page images, so text will not stay selectable. Then click Compress PDF. Progress updates page by page.
Compare original vs compressed size. The file downloads automatically. If it did not shrink, try High or keep the original — some scans are already as small as this method can go.
