AES-256 in the browser
The file is encrypted locally so opening it in a reader asks for the password you set. User and owner passwords are the same value for a simple lock. This is real PDF encryption, not a fake overlay you can delete in a click.

Type the password twice so a typo does not lock you out. Show or hide the field when you need to check it. The minimum is four characters — short on purpose for a client-side tool, but you should still use a password you would use for a sensitive file.
Encryption runs in this tab. GetUpTools does not receive the PDF or the password. Close the tab and both are gone from the product. That is the point of a local protect tool versus an upload converter.
Page count and size show after you drop the PDF. Already-encrypted files are refused — unlock first, then protect again if you need a new password.
Drop one PDF or click to browse. Page count and file size appear. A password-protected file is rejected until you unlock it.
Enter the same password twice (at least four characters). Use the eye control if you need to check for typos.
Click Protect. The PDF is encrypted in the browser with AES-256. Nothing is sent to GetUpTools.
The protected file downloads automatically. Store the password somewhere you will still have it — GetUpTools cannot recover it.
